Hall & Oates - Kiss on My List (1980)

"Kiss on My List" is a 1980 song recorded by Daryl Hall and John Oates. It was the third single from their album Voices, and became their second Billboard Hot 100 number-one single (after "Rich Girl" in 1977). It was written by Janna Allen and Daryl Hall, and produced by Hall and Oates. While two other songs from the album had returned the duo to chart activity, it was the success of "Kiss on My List" that confirmed the start of the duo's sustained run as one of American pop's top-selling acts, a run that lasted into 1989. -Wikipedia

Allen She'll only come out at night The lean and hungry type Nothing is new, I've seen her here before Watching and waiting She's sitting with you but her eyes are on the door So many have paid to see What you think you're getting for free The woman is wild, a she-cat tamed by the purr of a Jaguar Money's the matter If you're in it for love you ain't gonna get too far Oh here she comes Watch out boy she'll chew you up Oh here she comes She's a maneater Oh here she comes Watch out boy she'll chew you up Oh here she comes She's a maneater I wouldn't if I were you I know what she can do She's deadly man, and she could really rip your world apart Mind over matter The beauty is there but a beast is in the heart Oh here she comes Watch out boy she'll chew you up Oh here she comes She's a maneater

Hall & Oates - Kiss On My List (Lyrics)

My friends wonder why I call you all the time, What can I say? I don't feel the need to give such secrets away You think maybe I need help though I know i am right, all right I'm just better off not listening to friends advice When they insist on knowing my bliss,I tell them this When they want to know what the reason is I only smile when I lie, then I tell them why Because your kiss, your kiss is on my list Because your kiss, your kiss is on my list Because your kiss is on my list of the best things in life Because your kiss, your kiss is on my list Because your kiss, your kiss I can't resist Because your kiss it's what I miss when I turn out the lights I go crazy wondering what there is to really see Did the night just take up your time, cause it means more to me Sometimes I forget what I'm doing, I don't forget what I want, what I want Regret what I've done, regret you? I couldn't go on But if you insist on knowing my bliss,I'll tell you this If you want to know what the reason is I only smile when I lie, then I'll tell you why Because your kiss, your kiss is on my list Because your kiss, your kiss I cant resist Because your kiss is what I miss when I turn out the lights

Hall & Oates - Family Man

Hall & Oates is the popular music duo made up of Daryl Hall and John Oates. The act achieved its greatest fame in the late 1970s and early-to-mid 1980s, and used a unique variety of ballad-oriented pop-blue eyed soul (occasionally mixed with dance and rock influences) to dominate the charts. The partnership is the most successful chart duo in the history of American recorded music. The videoclip "Family Man" goes for a conceptual affair. Shot mainly in a set that resembles a living room, it mostly shows the band as they lip-synch, but it also includes shots of kids as they pester H&O, and we also watch some shots of a family with matching pompadours. Inserted on top of this, we discern the romantic pursuits of a man and a woman who both intentionally look like characters from primitive video games. Mike Oldfield's song "Family Man" reached number seven and number six in March and June of 1983, respectively.

Hall & Oates - I Cant Go For That (1981)

"I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)" is a 1981 song recorded by Daryl Hall and John Oates. It was the fourth number-one hit single of their career on the Billboard Hot 100 and the second hit single from their album Private Eyes. It features Charles DeChant on saxophone. On January 30, 1982, "I Can't Go for That" ended a 10-week run at the top of the Hot 100 by Olivia Newton-John's song, "Physical". Thanks to heavy airplay on urban-contemporary stations, "I Can't Go for That" also topped the US R&B chart, a rare act for a non-African American act. The song also went to #1 on the Hot Dance Club Play chart for one week in January of 1982. Beyond being a number one hit in its own right, "I Can't Go for That" continues to bear influence. The song has been covered by a number of recording artists including Brian McKnight, The Nylons, Les Go (with Alfredo Alias), Donny Osmond, East End, Kansascali, and Orson. It was featured in British comedy series The Mighty Boosh (Series 3, Episode 3) where Bob Fossil danced to the song. "I Can't Go for That" was voted #6 on VH1's list of "The 100 Greatest Songs of the '80s". -Wikipedia The Music video version is not how I remember this song. This seems more in line with what I remember anyway, hope its enjoyable.

Say It Isn't So - Hall & Oates

Groovy! By the fall of 1983, Hall & Oates were one of the biggest pop music acts in America. They had five Number 1 singles to their credit, two consecutive Top 10 albums and were one of the biggest names on MTV. A cover of the 1957 Bobby Helms' classic, "Jingle Bell Rock", was recorded and released in time for Christmas 1983, complete with a comedic video of the band that received extensive airplay on MTV. In 1983, they released their first greatest hits album entitled, Rock'n Soul Part 1. The album peaked at Number 7 and the two new songs that were written and recorded for that LP both also became Top 10 hits as well. The first single off of this album, "Say It Isn't So", battled six weeks for the Number 1 spot with Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson's "Say, Say, Say" at the high point of the Thriller hysteria. "Say It Isn't So" remained at Number 2 for an impressive four weeks from December 1983 to January 1984. The battle with the McCartney/Jackson single led disc jockey Peter Bush, of New York's WPLJ Radio, which had just switched from rock to Top 40 the previous June, to intro the Hall & Oates entry "Say, Say, Say It Isn't, Isn't, Isn't So, So, So").

Hall n Oates - Maneater 1982

Top quality rare video recorded from Top Of The Pops 1982, Daryl Hall and John Oates (often shortened to Hall & Oates) are an American duo who achieved their greatest fame in the late 1970s and early to mid-1980s. Both sing and are multi-instrumentalists. They specialized in a fusion of rock and roll and rhythm and blues styles, which they dubbed "rock and soul." Critics Stephen Thomas Erlewine and J. Scott McClintock write, "at their best, [Hall & Oates'] songs were filled with strong hooks and melodies that adhered to soul traditions without being a slave to them by incorporating elements of new wave and hard rock." On some tours and dates, established soul and blues artists were known to perform in the duo's band. They are best known for their six No.1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100: "Rich Girl", "Kiss on My List", "Private Eyes", "I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)", "Maneater", and "Out of Touch", as well as many other songs which charted in the Top 40. They last reached the pop charts top 40 in 1990 and slowly faded from public view, though they did not formally break up. They have continued to record and tour with some success. In total, the act had 34 singles chart hits on the US Billboard Hot 100. Hall and Oates have seven RIAA platinum albums, along with six RIAA gold albums. A greatest hits compilation was released in 2001 by RCA/BMG. The BMG collection was expanded in 2004 and reissued the following year, after BMG merged with Sony Music Entertainment.
